What are the benefits of a glass of red wine?
A glass of red wine, in moderation, can be very enjoyable – the perfect accompaniment to a delicious meal, some tasty snacks or just enjoying some time with friends or family. But there is also some evidence to suggest that red wine has some other benefits too.
Red wine contains Resveratrol – one of a group of compounds called polyphenols, which, like antioxidants, can help to protect the body against damage and inflammation. It’s a compound that is found in the skin of red grapes, and therefore also in Red Wine, and there is a large amount of research currently investigating the health properties of this compound.
Of course, it is important to remember that everything should be enjoyed in moderation, but if you’re enjoying a small glass of red wine, it’s nice to know that there are some additional wellbeing benefits that have been attributed to red wine – particularly when that red wine is also sugar, carb and fat free, as well as vegan, like our own, delicious Red Wine.
